NELSON is the best place to start when you need to find the books you want to borrow. It will indicate where a book is located, and if the item is available. It will also let you know if we hold electronic versions of books (many of our core books are now available as eBooks). If you’re not sure how to locate items in NELSON please see our helpful guide.
If the item you are interested in borrowing is not on the shelf ready to borrow (it will have a Due date for a status) click on the option to Request:

When you request an item that is on loan you join a queue to wait for a copy of the item, this is called a Hold. Once a Hold is in place the on loan copies cannot be renewed.
If your Hold is the only one queued it will become available 24 hours after a copy has been returned. Please be aware this could be before or after the due dates stated depending when the current users return them.
Multiple queued Holds shown below are fulfilled in the order they were requested. Therefore, depending on the number of copies on loan and your place in the queue you will not necessary receive your copy on or near the due dates stated.
We suggest trying to be realistic about the item still being of use based on its due date and possible multiple Holds in terms of your current work or assignment.
When your Hold is ready for collection you will receive an email, Holds can be issued on the self-service machines.
