Q. My file is too big to add to NILE or Turnitin - what can I do?

Answer

There are a number of file size limits that you might encounter – the two most common are 40MB for a Turnitin document and 2GB for a video file submitted through Kaltura.

For documents, saving as a PDF (which LearnTech always recommend for submission) will usually reduce the size of a Word or PowerPoint document with images. If that does not help (and if you also have to join files to create a single submission) refer to the document attached below.

For very large videos, you will need to either divide your file into parts or (better) reduce the quality of the video. For Windows users the Freemake Video Converter has simple editing facilities and can convert to lower resolutions (it also indicates how big the final file will be).

For media students submitting professional quality video, please contact your tutor to discuss submission options.
