Q. How can I embed a Twitter feed in NILE?

Answer

How To Embed a Twitter Widget in Your Course

  1. Log in to Twitter.
  2. Click the Settings icon and select Widgets.
  3. Click Create New.
  4. Select the User Timeline tab to publish your own Tweets in the widget. Alternatively, select Favorites, List, Search, or Collection. For example, select the Search tab and type #cornell in the query box. The widget displays the latest Tweets containing that hashtag.
  5. Preview the widget and click Create Widget.
  6. Copy the code that appears below the Preview.
  7. In your Blackboard course, navigate to a content area or folder.
  8. Select Item from the Build Content action bar.
  9. Type the name of the new item, i.e. NorthamptonUniversity Twitter
  10. In the content editor, select HTML Code View. In the pop-up window, paste the widget code.
  11. Click Update. The content editor shows a link to the Twitter.
  12. Click Submit. The content area displays the Twitter widget with an automatically updating list of Tweets.
  13. Instructor view will display the Widget code. Switching Edit Mode to OFF will show display the feeds.

Twitter widgets can display tweets from an individual account or any tweets relating to any hashtag, so adding them on NILE can keep your site content bang up to date and even allow students to participate. This short video explains just how easy it is - please note that you must use the web based version of Twitter (not any app) to access the widgets.
